I missed the first evening in Luang Prabang for fear of stepping to far away from a toilet, but was up the next day ready to go. We spent the morning wandering through the town, looking (but definitely not buying) at the food market and visiting a few temples – just to mix things up.
Now, I grew up on a farm so it’s not like I’ve never seen a dead animal before, but the smell was just incredible. All of the meat was just lying out in the sun absolutely covered in flies – it really put me off eating anything in that town!
That afternoon we made a trip to Kuang Si Falls, which were just beautiful. We walked right up to the biggest of the falls and got to stand right below it – you’d never have a path leading to that in NZ! (at least not without railings etc) We then spent the afternoon swimming in one of the lower pools.
