Holidaying in the most visited city in the world means you will probably see and experience the same things as roughly 30 million other tourists who visit Paris every year, but there are few ways to make your trip just slightly more magical:
- Buy macarons from Ladurée before visiting the Eiffel Tower
Nothing will make your trip more French than carrying around a Laudrée bag full of Macarons, especially if you indulge within eye sight of the Eiffel tower. There are a number of Laudrée’s in the city and if you’re flying into Paris there are four at Orly airport.
2. Photograph the Tower from Palais de Chaillot
Fancy a photo of the tower, (the whole tower) and yourself, without a double chin, that isn’t taken on an angle? Taking a short walk across to the other side of The Seine to Palais de Challiot will ensure the perfect shot.
3. Have a 30 EURO cocktail at Le Meurice
Pretend for a moment that you are wealthy enough to stay at five star hotel Le Meurice by spending the evening (slowly) sipping a 30 EURO cocktail.
4. Visit in autumn
If you don’t mind milder days, autumn is an ideal time to visit Paris, not only are there fewer tourists, but you will get great photographs of the Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower and Champs-Élysées with the autumn colours.
5. Buy Marveilleux from Aux Marveilleux
I don’t know what ingredients are in these little magical treats, but you will never regret stopping by Aux Marveilluex. My travel companion said the mini Marveilluex was the best thing she had ever eaten – she has also eaten at NOMA (ranked best restaurant in the world) in Copenhagen.
